SU Elections 09

I'm not going to go into the full details of this years popularity contest, however I will mention that anyone running this year is allowed to have something like 10 official aides each!!

With 10 folk each running around campus pulling down each others' posters, it'll be like a warzone out there

Fucking stupid. Those 10 people going to ahve anything to do with it after this week? no. The candidate needs to speak to people, not randoms. Campus isn't exactly massive - you can poster it in 15 minutes, and I disagree with flyering anyway.

Just been told, students also have 5 days of voting and not the 2 days we had to make do with.

Is anyone else getting annoyed on facebook of being invited to join groups/events when:

a) you cant vote
b) you really dont care anymore
c) you never gave a shit in the first place?

nope. i don't get them. but then i don't know anyone who's still at rhul.

incidently i saw that joey had joined a couple of groups and clicked through to one of htem. I looked at the girls manifesto and it made my eyes bleed.
for someone who cited the need for clear communication she has a LOT to learn *sigh*

different year, same shit.

Yes, yes, I cared.
The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it.

i cared. and still do. unfortunately, and patronisingly, i don't think you really appreciate it all until you are completely outside of it.

Is that an answer to all three questions? My opinion is this:

- I cant vote anymore so therefore i'm a bit of dud if you're trying to persuade me how great you are.
- I'm no longer at uni or in a uni bubble and have more important things to worry about, like paying the bills each month and providing for myself.
- As Joey pointed out - it's a huge popularity contest and even when i was at uni i didnt like the way that it was handled, therefore i care even less now.

I believe Sham was once Election Officer. It was his job to care.

Not the elections officer but when on the exec I sat on the elections committee and the year after that I also sat on it as a lay member, so yeah in a way I had to care! And my answers were to all three question/statements, in respective order.

I lost track of the number of committees I was supposed to sit on over those two years.
