so it looks like the time has finally arrived. the end is clearly nigh. i'd imagine the length of time that this place has existed in one form or another is actually considerably more than anyone imagined when they created it way back when.

i suspect i leave as the most prolific poster of all time on here and i'll miss it all. but for anyone interested in keeping tabs on me in the future, i have finally set up my own blog, which is slowly filling up with stuff. and of course i've migrated my way onto twitter quite nicely.

Been a bloody good laugh most of the time though Just tried to see how much of the old boards is archived on http://web.archive.org and I was a little disappointed to find very little.

And there's a part of me would be intrigued to go back and read the Lurve Stud threads...

OP, I believe I still have the databases from the other BB's somewhere on my PC or on disk. So the contents will survive in some form.

Silv, I believe you hit the 20k mark on each of the older 2 BB's... I expect nothing less on Twitter!

Yes it was and yes the server is still on... for some reason. Can't remember the IP address but will have a hunt when I get home.

Maybe the IP address is out there on the net somewhere in the same way the IP address for the old SU site is? That's how I managed to find it as it's still got links to the IFIS site.

Interesting. For me I still find a forum occupies a nice middle ground between a blog and twitter.

Me on Twitter, although I can't see myself using it properly (like tweeting more than once a month or scanning tweets more than once a week) at this point.

Just about, however I've lost the link to the database server. If I can upload the database elsewhere, I'll update the path to the data and turn it back on... well that's if I can have a good day at work today and not rely on the healing power of Rum when I get back home!

Seems this isn't the only forum to be dying off - the SU are shutting down their BAM one. I guess it's cos it's only ever had 2 posts ever...

As someone who's seen it from both sides - as much as the BB could at times be a bit of a nuisance to police, the SU lost a really quite valuable tool when they shut the official BB down.

And considering the "pay-per-click" nature of the BAM site, they lost themselves a tidy sum too. I'm not saying we would have clicked on every ad-banner, but more likely than the dodgy stuff that appears on this site.
